Biomedical engineering field is a fast growing field with a lot of technological advancement taking place, the biomedical engineer applies the principal and the law of biology, medical and engineering to come up with devices which can be used in improving people’s health, they participate in designing and constructing devices that helps in solving a number of health and medical problems, their work is to produce equipments that can be used to comfort patients suffering from particular diseases, the machine used for these process includes, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), CT scans, X-rays, Sonography, ultrasound and others, all these equipments and devices are inventions of the biomedical engineers, in addition these engineers work in the development of artificial devices that perform the functions of the body organs these devices include artificial limbs, pacemaker, and kidney machines amongst others.
There is a wide range of employment opportunity for those who are in the biomedical field. This is because they can get absorbed in the Medical equipment manufacturers, research laboratories, departments and institutes are the main employers of biomedical engineers. It is important to note that all engineering principals is used to in healthcare to ensure that the existing equipments are improved and can work effectively and efficiently, and even the new equipments which are produced also adhere to the current advancement of technology, this is achieved when all the factors of research and design are done to assist doctors in getting more accurate diagnosis. Traditionally machines like Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), sonography, CT scans and X-rays was used to diagnose the diseases, but with the advancement of technology and with the research which is continually being carried out, the biomedical engineers has adapted the technology to replace them with robotic surgical instruments.
